Toothache:

  • Remove trapped food with toothbrush and / or floss.

  • Rinse with warm salt water.

  • Take an OTC pain medicine, like Extra Strength Tylenol.

  • NEVER put these pills directly on soft tissue.  They will burn it.

  • If pain persists, dab area with clove oil or swish with cool peppermint tea.

Knocked Out Tooth - SAVE IT!  Do not scrub or touch the root.

  • If dirty, rinse in water.

  • Try to replant it.  Make sure the front faces the front.

  • Best results when replaced ASAP.

  • If you can’t replant it, place it in a zip-lock baggie with water or milk.

  • See the Dentist ASAP.

Bleeding

  • Lips, tongue, cheek, gums due to trauma - apply ice with gentle pressure for 15 minutes.

  • If bleeding persists, go to the nearest Emergency Room.

Lost Filling

  • Remove trapped food with a toothbrush and / or floss.

  • Rinse with warm salt water.

  • If sensitive, place a cotton ball lightly dampened with clove oil in the hole.

  • Temporarily fill the hole with chewed sugar free gum or orthodontic wax.

Abscess (a “pimple” on the gum)

  • See a Dentist ASAP.

  • This is an infection that requires immediate medical attention!
